1. Should I use a paint and primer in one product?
It is far better for a wall that has been primed and painted previously to get one to two coats of luxury paint color rather than one to two coats of a primer quality paint. Primer and paint serve two different functions. One is for sealing a porous surface and the other delivers a highly protective, smooth color finish.

2. What's the best way to get rid of a pinkish coat in hard surfaces like wood and tile?
To get rid of pink tones, try upstaging the pink with red, red-oranges or deep purples. These colors will rob the tile from its pink and neutralize it. For sure, avoid greens and blues-they love to energize red!

3. Should you add white to lighten a color?
Adding white to lighten a paint color can cause it to turn gray and lose its depth and dimension. So, instead of adding white to your paint, we recommend having the color formula cut back instead.

4. Will color make a dark room brighter?
A light color can never brighten up a dark room. Light and dark colors can make the space appear bigger or smaller, but they cannot make it lighter if it is a dim room. To make a room lighter, buy light.

5. Should I paint the ceiling a color other than white?
Think of a ceiling as the lid on a box (of your four-sided room). Should every lid be white, regardless of the box color? Choose a ceiling color that makes the box even prettier.

6. Why do you have only a few whites?
Artists use pure white (or titanium white) paint as the base to blend the right kind of white shade for their color compositions. That's what Devine Colors® tries to do with our whites. Here is a great analogy: Devine Color whites were designed as perfect "tooth colors" for different types of wood tones, or "skin colors."

7. Won't red be too much?
We call painting with our worry-free reds "landscaping with reds." Think about how worry-free the experience is when you match greens in your garden; you won't need to worry about our reds. They go with many reds and many colors.

8. What about the wall color changing at night?
Devine Colors will change along with how light changes with all the other colors in a room, like your sofa color, rug colors and so on. The whole room should look different throughout the day, as a color grouping. We created our tint strengths to make this happen and keep the walls from changing on their own.

9. Is Devine Color® a spectrum paint?
As any artist will tell you, they have a unique approach to how they make colors to achieve luminosity and depth. At Devine Color, we are committed to having minimal metamaric problems (i.e., color changing hues in different lighting, or being "unstable").

10. What's the best way to test paint colors?
Stake out two places on a wall where you can see multiple rooms. Paint 1' x 1' squares. One area of the wall must have a lot of light. The other should be shadowy-in a corner, perhaps. This lets you see how light or dark the color appears when different levels of light are present. Paint a white border around and in between your squares if the wall is painted a color other than white. If the wall is already white, you are good to go.

11. Do I start with the paint color first or last in the design process?
Think of paint color as the "sky" color in your home. Let's say paint color is the sky and your stuff is the landscape. Although the landscape remains the same, as the sky changes color throughout the day so do the colors in the landscape. In the same way that the sky color truly determines the way nature looks in a landscape, paint colors truly determine the way your things look in your home.

12. Do I have to paint the walls white to sell my home?
The right wall colors really make a home stand out in the market by making it look updated, well kept and well designed. Furniture showrooms know that vignette wall colors sell merchandise. Choosing the right vignette wall color for your home can help sell your home.
